Are you a Wave S8500 or Wave II S8530 owner in South Africa? If so, then you can get FREE lifetime on-board navigation right on your smartphone. The Wave and Wave II shipped with a 30-day trial of Samsung LBS mapping and navigation software. After the 30-day trial has ended, some of the features were disabled including navigation. However, according to the Samsung blog,

“Samsung, NAVTEQ and ROUTE 66 have joined forces and invite all owners of a Samsung Wave or Samsung Wave II to upgrade their smartphone entirely for free with lifetime on-board navigation for Southern Africa.”

All you have to do is register your device here before December 31, 2011. Once you register, you will get a lifetime navigation license for: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique, and Lesotho.
