The holidays are often a time for dreams to come true and miracles to happen. Well today, when I woke up…I got the news that Samsung will be looking to release bada 2.0 in the first half of 2011! I could not believe my eyes but at the same time I was thinking, “what happened to bada 1.2?”. It seems like bada 1.2 will be released on the wave II as expected but the original Wave will likely jump straight to bada 2.0 along with all the other devices in the Wave series once it is released however Samsung has NOT confirmed that yet. It looks like bada 2.0 will bring some pretty cool and much needed features.
Some of the features that will be implemented in 2.0 is multitasking, an improved UI with a lot of new animations and new customizable “smart” layouts, Near-Field Communication (NFC) support which provides safe transactions including mobile phone payments and support, SDK changes including support for Linux and Mac, FLASH Lite and HTML 5 support, and so much more!
Another thing we learned is 2011 will be the year of several new bada devices including what looks to be a bada “superphone” if you will. According to SamFirmware, the new Wave “superphone” will have an 8-megapixel camera, 4″ SAMOLED, Bluetooth 3.0, bada 2.0 (likely), and more. Remember, these specs are not official but it goes to show you that bada is alive and well.
With the news that bada 2.0 is coming soon and will be implementing a lot of new features along with features many users have been begging for, where do you see bada heading in the future? Discuss the latest 2.0 news in the official thread here!

Hi mate,
seems there’s a little mistake in your article. In the 1st half of 2011 Samsung plans to sell 10m Waves, but there’s still no news about the date of public release of Bada 2.0.
kinda old news bro, the head of bada development leaked this news a long time ago on twitter(theres a post on our forum too), thanks for the post anyway!
Samsung has disappointed us enough with skipping on Bada 1.2 for the WAve I. By the time Bada 2.0 is released, many will move to other brands because expecting even more unfair moves from Samsung.
too bad this is news that should have come out weeks ago, first half of 2011? They couldn’t even commit to first quarter -_-, jeez I doubt their superphone will be able to compete with the likes of the Optimus 2X and other 2011 flagship devices regardless of Sammy’s ability to make great hardware.
Wow…Bring it on Sammy !!!!
Wow thats fucking nuts if they would settle the bada 2.0 platform straight to the Wave one
Samsung is skipping bada 1.2 for the wave S8500????? Is this confirmed? Cuz if it is it sucks big time!!! I mean come on, the most loyal customers who went all out and risked by going in for a phone with a completely new OS are being treated like shit, pardon my French! It seriously dampens one’s spirits!
Bad move, real bad move!
Guyz, all these comments about bada 1.2 not being released for Wave I is just
nonsense!!!Samsung bada has made it official through their twitter that Wave I will be getting bada 1.2 in Q1 2011.
Bada 1.2 is available for Wave I (S8500). I bought Wave I last week and the first thing was to update it. I’m in love with this phone. Simply awesome!!!
If that the news for bada 1.2 will be released in Q1 2011, then WAVE owner in Asia region will only get bada 1.0.2 that time. But I’ve heard a lot from other users that bada 1.0.2 will lost “Call Recording” function which it was initially available to bada 1.0 for a long time.
What happen to you Samsung !!??
Samsung !! please DO NOT taken away any function that originally available and DO ADD the new function !!
Lastly, I hope Samsung will release the bada 1.2 OR bada 2.0 globally at the same time as what Apple did to their iphone.
Thanks.
Recently updated bada 1.0.2 and lost call recording as well as media players 5.1 channel support also not working .. says 5.1 channel can only be activated when sound effects are off but there is no provision in the settings to turn off the sound effects..
we trusted in samsung. If samsung make us feel disappointed, how will it be able to compete with other OS’es and new, fast, more popular devices?

wave 1 is already able to be upgraded to bada 1.2 .. not just wave 2. Meaning that there will be no straight jump from bada 1.0 to 2.0 -..
