Samsung Wave- Whats new?

Ok. Now you know something about Samsung’s brand new OS bada. So now lets see what are the features in the first phone with bada, Samsung Wave. From the basics we know that bada is for smartphones only. So Samsung Wave is a smartphone (duh!). From the fist look of the phone it is clear that it is hot and has a beautiful touchscreen. So what is the unique features?

From the Samsung Wave’s picture one thing is pretty clear. Its cool right. But that not the only feature of this phone. The features in this phone can be summarized as follows.

  • 3.3-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display
  • 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash
  • 720p video recording
  • DivX support
  • 2GB internal memory
  • microSD support
  • HSDPA connectivity
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • 1 GHz processor
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Aluminum body
  • 1500 mAh battery
  • bada OS
  • TouchWiz 3.0

The Bada OS running in Samsung Wave is pretty smooth and flawless. Samsung’s bada platform will drive the democratization of the smartphone era and deliver a smartphone for every lifestyle. The bada is the secret behind the Samsung Wave and enables applications to fully utilize the powerful hardware by providing various APIs for interactivity including UI elements, 3D Graphics, Flash, multipoint-touch, sensors and motion support. In addition, service-oriented features such as social network integration, LBS (location-based service) and in-application-purchase, allow users to experience a variety of applications and content.            So we definitely have to look out for the Bada.

*Confirmed* Wave Will Run On AT&T & T-Mo Minus 3G

As stated in the previous article, the Wave will in fact run on AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States but will not run 3G which is a let down but that is how it usually goes. So if you want the Wave just to have one and use it for making calls and sending texts then great! However, if you want to browse the web and download apps…it might be slow.

No Network Wave Released

Ok so does this mean I could use my Verizon SIM card on the Wave? I do not think so since Verizon is CDMA but those with T-Mobile or AT&T possibly could in fact use the Wave. According to Articlerich.com,

The new Samsung S8500 Wave has now been made available as a SIM Free phone, this means that this latest Samsung handset is unlocked to all mobile networks allowing the user to insert a SIM card of their choice.

Basically, you could take your AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card out of your Hero or Nexus One and pop it into the Wave. This all depends on the banding in the phone. If there are US GSM bands in the phone, this will be possible. I will keep people updated on this as more information comes in.

Other cool things about the SIM free Wave is that it’ll be featured as a “pay-as-you-go” phone and by the standard monthly contract system. The SIM Free Samsung Wave will also be great news for people who struggle to get past the strict network credit checks when buying a contract phone. Since the Wave will be SIM Free, there will be no such checks when purchasing the Samsung Wave as a SIM Free handset.

Posted by soraxd >> Samsung S8500 Wave now headed to stores near you

We can’t say we’re not surprised, but what a pleasant surprise it is. The Bada-waving Samsung S8500 Wave is turning up in stock in various online stores around the world as we speak way ahead of its initially expected May release. The S8500 Wave is rather welcome and it’s nice to see a high-end phone come earlier than expected for a change.

The Samsung S8500 Wave is the first Samsung phone with the proprietary Bada OS and it’s also the first phone in the world with a Super AMOLED display. Well, the Bada OS certainly left us with nothing but nice feelings and hope for its successful adoption among third-party app developers.
Oh, and the impressive Super AMOLED is something that you definitely need to see with your very own eyes.
And did we mention the Wave shoots some nice 720p video?
Currently the Samsung S8500 Wave retails for about 450 euro, which is higher than the price of the HTC Desire, for instance. We really hope the Wave’s price will reach more reasonable levels within a month making it a that much harder to resist, which is just the effect Samsung needs to popularize the Bada OS.

We’re not giving direct links to online stores but we managed to find at least several that list the Wave as “In stock” with a simple search.
