What’s new in bada – bada features

Being unique is nowadays a key requirement to win a market. This exactly why Samsung created bada with a lot of unique features. The user demands more in their devices than just being new. So Samsung engineers have worked a lot in making not only unique but also useful.
The key features of bada OS are its user-interface (UI), service oriented platform and being open and configurable. Now lets look into each of the features. These features are the distinctive features of bada.

User Interface
The UI of bada is based on Samsung’s signature TouchWiz user interface. It provides an easy and simple UI with high efficiency. Samsung bada also provides flash control, web control, motion sensing, fine tuned vibration and face detection!
Developers of bada can develop applications and games that make use of its capabilities. The UI of bada is custamizable and thus provides better user experience.

Service Oriented Platform
The Samsung build bada keeping in mind that it has to be service oriented platform. So what does Samsung mean by service oriented? It means bada focuses on its services than its applications. Developers are free from having to learn how to bind services with their applications in service specific manner. Samsung bada differentiates its position by supporting various service centric features such as social networking, device synchronization, content management, location-based services and commercial services all supported by back-end bada servers. Thus it is also beneficial to bada developers too. In short bada is ready to meet all your requirement.

Open and Configurable
The reason to say that bada is open and configurable is that bada enables developers to take full advantage of mobile device capabilities to create compelling applications with ease. Thus there is always a path to improve bada. The applications can use device functions to make phone calls, send messages, share information such as personal profiles, social relations, schedules. The flexibility of bada platform makes it applicable to a wide range of devices than any other mobile operating system.

What is Samsung Bada?

Bada in Korean means ‘ocean’, in Hindi it means ‘big’. Samsung’s phones are going to use bada. Did you find any relation between the two sentences? If you haven’t figured it out, I will tell you what Samsung bada is. It is the Samsung’s own mobile software platform for smartphones.

Samsung bada began its journey back in November 2009. It was then Samsung announced the arrival of Bada. After a long developing and testing Samsung finally released first phone with Bada OS  in February 2010, named Samsung Wave. Samsung plans to use Bada in 33% of  its phones. The rest will be in Android.
Symbian, Windows mobile, iPhone OS, Android and now Bada. So what is Samsung’s aim in entering this OS market?

Dr Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics said,“Through the launch of bada, Samsung’s open mobile platform, we aim to help developers to capitalise on this exciting market opportunity. The aim of the bada platform is to make smartphone features accessible to everyone, so that developers can reach larger audiences and the variety and creativity of apps can be enjoyed by many. We want consumers to have a fun and diverse mobile experience that really adds value to their lives, by providing them with high-quality applications and mobile services.”

So why bada? It has features such as plenty of UI controls, Flash support, and sensor support help applications to be more interactive. Service-centric features such as in-app-purchasing, SNS integration, and push notification help applications to offer customers a richer, more interactive experience.

So why don’t you check out this new OS. Check if Samsung Wave is in stores near you.

Bada OS + Super AMOLED = SUPER PHONE!

Ok, so by now, anyone who follows the tech world and especially Samsung knows about the AMOLED screens found on new devices like the Rogue for Verizon Wireless. These screens are absolutely insane in terms of color, picture quality, and how vivid it makes things look. Well, with the introduction of the Wave running the new Bada platform, Samsung also introduced a new technology called, “Super AMOLED” which is supposed to make the phones screen even more stunning than before but will also help it not fade in sunlight which has been a problem for the TFT, OLED and AMOLED screens. In order to do this, Samsung basically “cut out the middle man” and have now combined the touch sensitive grid into the screen itself which allows for less glass on the phone and increases the clarity and color of the screen and decreases blurring when playing back video. The other cool thing about the new Super AMOLED screen is that it saves power which leads to increased battery life (thank you!).
