Bada OS Upgrade / Firmware Upgrade

Postby jamie506 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 5:45 pm

So my question is are the Firmware upgrades from Kies for the Samsung Wave itself? or the Bada OS.

I just want to know if the Samsung Wave will be upgradable as new BADA OS releases come out much like the Nexus One is with Android OS.

Go develop an Android ROM for the S8500 if you necessarily want Android on your bada device. I assume you don't know anything about that, so just buy a damn Android phone instead and stop whining about porting Android to bada.

Totally right!
I can't believe this, its the same as 'why aren't many apps?' People need to do more research before they are buying a phone plus they shouldn't compare it with other phones that are not in same position.
It all has to do with the position of a phone and the expectations of the customers. It the same story about the Jet, the Jet is a great phone based on a closed Java OS. I have read some complains on the internet from some people who are complaining about the lack of support. In mine opinion its just the lack of research from the customer, Samsung did release firmware upgrades and you can't expect from Samsung that they are making all those Java apps by them self. Samsung knew that Java isn't the best platform for developers and the customers should also have known that. The other part is the slogan from Samsung, Jet is smarter than a smartphone. Which is more in the sentence of the smartphone capabilities (phone+internet+email) with the good multimedia capabilities like audio, video and camera.

It is exactly what I think about! If the guy wants something specific, why buy another? If I want something that runs Android, I'll buy anything that runs Android, otherwise no one will move to develop applications for the Bada. I'm very happy with my s8500. I have other devices, but none as interesting as the wave.

To be honest, Bada isn't bad and looks and works pretty much the same as Android, so why want Android?
I mean, like guys said, if you want Android, you should buy Android device from the start, not some other and then hope you could install Android on it. Maybe you will be able, maybe you won't be. With native Android device you can always be sure.

Well, people buy Wave because most other Android devices doesn't look THAT good.

And the Galaxy S is too.... plasticky.

"upgrade"? Do you deeply know Bada OS before saying its far inferior to Android or you just confuse the quality of an OS with the number of available (3rd party developed!) apps?
From a technical point of view Bada has nothing to envy to Android, but instead has some advantages, especially for developers...
