Here's something that could save you money!

Postby kp247 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 7:26 am

Ever wondered what the E icon top left in the bada 2 homescreen next to the signal strength indicator means?
Answer: It means that the phone is ready to connect to the Internet when you launch an online app and ready for packet-data usage!

This is all fair and well, however, I've found that when my wave 8500 is in close proximity to my PC I can hear it constantly bleeping through my PC speakers when connecting to the Internet to update stuff. I have a contract and in my case it costs me money when my phone is connected to the Internet.

So, change your phone phylosophy, use the Internet only when necessary and save yourself money!

Here's how:

1) Go to the Keypad and type in *#5239870*#
2) Select Network Settings
3) Select “Power on Attach” and unclick it
4) Save
5) Restart the phone

Now, once the phone has been restarted you will see that the E icon is still there!

Now go:
1) Menu - Settings
2) Network
3) Switch OFF "use packet data"
4) Wait a few seconds and the E icon will disappear!

Take note that Internet, Chat, email, ChatON etc won’t work when Packet Data is disabled, however it works 100% when using Wi-Fi.

Just switch on Packet Data when you need it. The E icon will then show you are potentially connected to the Internet.

Please update this thread if you find something different!

you can just create a dummy connection(no configurations at all) and use it as a connection to all your application profiles. In this way you don't need to restart or type something on your keypad.

the E, G, 3G, 3G+ icons indicate that edge, gprs, 3g and enhanced 3g network is available for your use, if the icons are BLUE. Only when they turn red, with a small orange arrow and keep flashing does it indicate that data is being used. to reduce your bills, increase the intervals between successive syncronisations of your mail and social networks

Great, but HOW do I increase the intervals between successive syncronisations?

Secondly, does anyone know what the meaning is of the little white square with the 1 in it thats to the right of the time indicator?
