Wave, Bluetooth and KIES software

I guess this is more or less unfit for the section since it's actually about the KIES software, but it seems to be Wave-specific software so there you go...

I'll try to make this short:

The KIES software seems to work fine with the Wave as long as I use the cable...
However when I want to use the Bluetooth connection KIES immediately tells me that BT isn't activated on my pc, which it clearly is - my Wave IS already connected to it via the standard windows/explorer/BT drivers stuff.

KIES doesn't even pause to check if it works, it just goes "BAM - nuts to you!".

I tried reasoning with it, I tried being nice, I tried strong language in the end, but it's not budging...

Win7, a SWEEX BT 2.1 adapter and obviously a Wave.

Any takers?

Bugger. It's a mystery to me since I have the same problem on both my desktop and my laptop. They've nothing in common. Different OS, Desktop is x64 while the laptop is x86...

Did you try connecting Wave after closing all the applications. You need to keep Wave idle to make Kies work. To stop all running programs, just press the center button and a menu will appear. Just check close all applications.

Yes, I have done that. The same thing is needed for connecting with the cable as well.

The only things that still show up in the task manager are "homescreen" and "widgets", all the applications are closed.

I've also tried it after a reboot (both phone and pc).

But I don't think that that's the problem, since it connects fine when I use the cable. Kies finds the phone and I can use all the functions.
It's just when I try to tell KIES to connect with Bluetooth that it immediately tells me that bluetooth isn't activated on my pc - which it is, since I CAN do file transfers etc outside of KIES.

I think it's a problem with KIES since I have the same problem on both my desktop and my laptop.

Can you (or anyone else) connect the wave with KIES via Bluetooth?

Hello i am new here, but maybe have a idea.

But i was wrong so i edited my post sorry...

But yes i had same issue as you when i used the drivers & software from my BT device, after ripping them off there and let windows do its thing it worked.

Well Waver, it seems I owe you some thanks.

Removing the software and drivers and letting W7 do it's thing worked!

Now, KIES can find the bluetooth drivers, can search for devices, find my Wave AND ... Tell me it doesn't support my device...

Ah well, at least I'm a step closer

Viper, as i said an other topic i couldn't connect my Wave to the PC and u use Win7 x64 and u can connect the phone, but i didn't understand the solution. could u tell me the solution, how can i connect my phone to the PC via USB for Kies? Kies still doesn't see my phone, and now i'm waiting but there is no answer from Kies.

This thread was about getting it to connect via Bluetooth - which still doesn't work really.

I never had a problem with connecting via the USB cable.

But anyway, I'll give it a shot:

Try to remove Kies, and then reboot.
Go to the samsung S8500 support page and download the latest version of KIES.

Install it as administrator without having any of the cables connected unless the installation program asks for it.
To install as administrator: Right click the installation file and select "Run as administrator".

When that's done, reboot your Wave. (Nothing fancy, just turn it off, let it rest for a few seconds and then turn it on again.)
When it's back on, click the top bar on the home screen and turn off Bluetooth (if it's on).

Start Kies.
Connect the USB cable to your pc, and then to the Wave.
When you connect it to the Wave you should get a selection screen where you can pick "connect to KIES" (or similar)

That should do the trick, just let us know if it doesn't.
