Recovery Password

Hi, I got my Wave locked up by entering the password wrong 5 times. Now its asking for a recovery password.

Actually, I reseted the General settings from the menu, it asked my password and then restarted. After restarting, it again asked for the password but I tried entering the password which I had prior to the reset. But it didn't worked and now its locked and asking for recovery password.

I took it to the service center, they are saying its needs to be flashed so you'll loose all your data. But I think since its asking of recovery password, there should be some recovery password which can unlock the device without getting it flashed.

Please help ....

I tried 0000, 0000000, 12345, 1234567890 .. all the default ones, that can be.
Should I try th PUK code from Network Provider?

I removed the sim from wave and using it in other handset, its working proper. But the wave is still asking for Recovery Password.

You should do a factory reset at your local Samsung repair service centres.

Can we do a factory reset ourselves? And as I said the service center guys are asking to flash it ...

The Samsung Service Center here does not know the recovery password. What's the point of having a recovery password that cannot be entered.
Service Center just flashed my phone and I loaded all my information and it happened again and got locked out. The DONE key can go into repeat mode while holding the phone from slipping out and #of tries jumps quickly.

Already paid for a reset at the service center and have to go back again. Need help with the password. Let me know how I can get help. At this point, I want to give up on the Exchange connectivity to avoid entering password UI which is really bad.

Bada OS is stupid OS! Same goes for Samsung company...

First of all the phone gets locked in 5 wrong tries.. there is no way to modify number of tries. Secondly no-one knows receovery password and the only way to recover the phone is to get it flashed! You loose all your data and also money (for getting it flashed and in turn loosing your data)!
Samsung service center charges for recovery blaming it as "User Error"! How can it be user error if we are never provided recovery password?! Had the user been provided with recovery password and then he would have forgotten it, could it be termed it as "User Error"!

This is simple exploitation of consumer. It is very easy to get the phone locked. Kids in house may lock it while playing. Someone may just lock it while rubbing on the screen unmindful of password screen. In my case the phone just hanged and when I hard booted it, it threw recovery password screen. I have seen all three scenario on self or on friends. Mine has been locked second time.

The recovery passwrod given by "technical team" of customer care center does not work! They refer you to Service center and Service center folks has these standard replies for all such complaints:
1. Sir you must have forgotten the password. Even after flashing they wont provide you with recovery password as they simply dont know it or its repeated money minting complaint.
2. The utility to unlock it (flash it) is being downloaded. (This is just to buy time and show how difficult is it to flash the phone!)
3. We'll return you the phone as new as you bought it!

Even after so many complaints if Samsung is not doing anything for this complaint... just shows how pathetic the company is towards consumer complaints!

I simpy feel like throwing the phone out and will do it soon...

I got my recovery password by following the below steps:

1. Log in to your Outlook Web Access
2. Click on Options at the top right corner
3. Click on Mobile devices from left navigation panel
4. Click on Display Recovery Password. The recovery password appears in a pop-up window.
5. Enter this password on your device
6. Once entered, it will prompt you to create a new password. Create it.
