Hello! I'm actually a newbie with Samsung gadgets, and it's my first time owning a Samsung phone which my Dad bought for me. It's a Samsung Wave 5753e. From what I gather, it's the Indian version of the model (Dad bought it when he was in India).
I'm actually very fond of my phone, but I was also hoping to learn more about firmware upgrades. This is the closest topic I came across with, and I was hoping that you guys can help me. From reading the previous posts in this thread, I've learned that firmwares have different codes for different areas or regions. I've got a few questions to as for starters, if that's okay?
1.) What would be the pro's and con's in upgrading the default firmware of the phone to the latest one available?
2.) For instance I would decide to upgrade the current firmware of my phone (the country where the phone was bought is different from the country where I am really residing), should I install the firmware with a code that corresponds to India or should I choose the one that corresponds to my location which is Philippines?
3.) I've really no idea how these upgrades work, although I do know that it would require me to install Kies on the PC first in order to start the process. Besides the obvious steps that I should do, are there any other special steps or instructions to be done on the handset or on the computer in order to ensure that the upgrade would be successful and not mess up my phone?
4.) Is there such a function as "restore" if in case you're not satisfied with the new firmware you have installed and revert it instead to the previous version of the firmware?
I would really love to hear from you guys. Thank you.
