Bada SDK 1.0.0 Available for Download

This is a cool post from Rison Simon of BadaVideos.com

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics released in late 2009 its first mobile operating system, called bada, and has recently made available the final version of its bada Software Development Kit (SDK).

The new bada SDK 1.0.0 was released recently with some changes from the previous version, including support for more languages than the bada SDK beta 3 came with.

The new bada Software Development Kit (SDK) offers developers the possibility to take advantage of languages like Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish.

Another important change in the new release is the addition of RTL (remote test laboratory), the development team notes.

“[RTL] is a new service that enables you to test your applications on the devices at a remote site. It allows you to test your application without your own device. RTL is not stable yet, and supports few languages on the remote devices, because RTL in this release is the beta version,” the change-log reads.

Other changes were also included in the new release, such as the possibility to use ColorPicker, EditDate, and EditTime controls in the UI Builder.

The release notes of bada SDK 1.0.0 also show:

Osp::Content

· RemoteAdvancedSearch, RemoteAdvancedSearchResult, and IRemoteAdvancedSearchListener are deprecated.

Osp::Location

· The privilege level of the REMOTE_LOCATION and REMOTE_LANDMARK privilege groups is changed from SYSTEM to NORMAL.

Osp::Social

· The privilege level of the BUDDY_SERVICE, MESSAGING_SERVICE, PRIVACY_SERVICE, PROFILE_SERVICE and SNS_SERVICE privilege groups is changed from SYSTEM to NORMAL.

Osp::System

· In the SystemInfo class, the value of the ScreenBitPerPixel key is changed from 24 to 32.

The same as the previous versions of the SDK, the new release comes with support for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems, and requires at least 1.8 GB of free disk space and minimum 1.4 GB of RAM memory.

DCI Mobile Studios Enter Bada Development! More apps for bada!

This is a cool post from Rison Simon of BadaVideos.com

DCI Mobile Studios ventures into BADA platform, a mobile operating system developed by SAMSUNG Electronics. The company is now a BADA application developer, offering full-fledged application development and marketing services for the brand new BADA platform.

DCI Mobile Studios (the mobile division of Dot Com Infoway), has been into mobile app development and marketing space for more than a year now. Within a year, it has made a huge impact in the mobile space – it received the Top 5 finalists mBillionth award for South Asia and has been ranked as the top 5 mobile app companies in India. Now, with BADA application development services, DCI Mobile Studios will add another feather to its crown – it will become one of the first developers to cater to all segments of the mobile market, from low-end to high-end mobile users.

BADA mobile operating system is developed with kernel base and its biggest advantage is its ability to use both Real Time Operating System and the Linux Kernel. It can work seamlessly even on mobile phones that have low memory or use Linux Kernel. Since SAMSUNG builds both mid and high range mobile phones, the BADA platform is expected to become a big hit with every other mobile user.

When contacted, Mr. C. R. Venkatesh, the CEO of Dot Com Infoway said “BADA is a brand new mobile platform that has a lot of scope. Since we’re into the mobile application business, we know to gauge the future life of a platform. In our view, there are a good number of clients looking for the BADA platform as it reaches out to both high-end and mid-segment mobile users.” He also added, “Only very few developers have ventured into the platform so far. Hence, as always, we pioneer BADA app development and are certain that this venture will bring us many new clients.”

Commenting on the same, Mr. Vijayakumar, CTO of Dot Com Infoway said, “BADA is an innovative mobile platform developed for cost-efficient smartphones. Since SAMSUNG is a leader in selling cost efficient smartphones, this app service will facilitate millions of mobile users to enjoy the luxury of using high-end entertainment, business and utility apps right from their cost-efficient SAMSUNG mobiles.”

Handmark now supports Samsung Bada!

Handmark logo1 Handmark: Well support Samsungs Bada platform!

This is a cool post from Rison Simon of BadaVideos.com

Handmark and Samsung made an agreement under which Handmark will support the Korean company’s brand new Bada platform. In other words, we’ll have tons of apps Handmark has made for various media companies available via Samsung Apps.

The first app that will be ported to Bada is the London Evening Standard app, which will be launched later this month, with Thompson Reuters, Goal.com and others to follow.

In addition to Bada, Handmark also supports other popular smartphone platforms, including the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, webOS, Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile.

Current Bada smartphone portfolio consists of three phones only – Samsung Wave, Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro.

Handmark is on board and that’s good for the prospects of the Bada platform. However, Samsung also needs other major developers on board — these days users want Skype, Foursquare, Evernote and many other apps and games on their smartphones, and without those included in the Samsung Apps catalog I can’t see the prospects of Bada…
