Samsung India: “bada 2.0 to arrive around July”

According to the R&D head at Samsung India, Samsun is to release bada 2.0 “around July of this year”. This is great news for those wondering what has happened to the OS since it was unveild at MWC a few months back.

They also went on to discuss the future plans for bada a bit in an interview with the Financial Express:

“Bada, meaning ocean in Korean, is a driving force in accomplishing Samsung’s vision of a smartphone for everyone.

While that quote does not say much about the upcoming devices for the bada platform, we do know that 2.0 is a major upgrade and should make bada an even better alternative to some of the bigger name OS’s out on the market today.

What are some of your thoughts on the future of bada? Will we see a phone with a 4″ screen? A tablet? Use your imagination…what do you want to see? Discuss it here in our forums or leave a comment below.

Samsung Wave boots in Android

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UueWOF5Icc

I know this is a bada community so it is a little bit weird for me writing about Android however, I know many of you have followed the Wavedroid project and Androbada so I figured I would report on this.

According to phonearena, it seems that Android has been booted up on a Samsung Wave. There have been many questions as to whether this was possible…some people said yes and others say no but apparently it is possible but not without some flaws. The Android on Wave is still in Alpha stages and is suffering from some performance issues including improper management of the Wave’s 512MB of memory and CPU power.

For those are have been following this project, this is certainly some good first steps and makes things interesting but now it is time for my opinion. Why go through all of the trouble trying to port Android over to the Wave when you can just go buy an Android phone with Touchwiz? In my opinion, bada is a great OS and needs to be given time to grow.

Discuss this in our official thread.
