Bada SDK 1.0.0 Available for Download

This is a cool post from Rison Simon of BadaVideos.com

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics released in late 2009 its first mobile operating system, called bada, and has recently made available the final version of its bada Software Development Kit (SDK).

The new bada SDK 1.0.0 was released recently with some changes from the previous version, including support for more languages than the bada SDK beta 3 came with.

The new bada Software Development Kit (SDK) offers developers the possibility to take advantage of languages like Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish.

Another important change in the new release is the addition of RTL (remote test laboratory), the development team notes.

“[RTL] is a new service that enables you to test your applications on the devices at a remote site. It allows you to test your application without your own device. RTL is not stable yet, and supports few languages on the remote devices, because RTL in this release is the beta version,” the change-log reads.

Other changes were also included in the new release, such as the possibility to use ColorPicker, EditDate, and EditTime controls in the UI Builder.

The release notes of bada SDK 1.0.0 also show:

Osp::Content

· RemoteAdvancedSearch, RemoteAdvancedSearchResult, and IRemoteAdvancedSearchListener are deprecated.

Osp::Location

· The privilege level of the REMOTE_LOCATION and REMOTE_LANDMARK privilege groups is changed from SYSTEM to NORMAL.

Osp::Social

· The privilege level of the BUDDY_SERVICE, MESSAGING_SERVICE, PRIVACY_SERVICE, PROFILE_SERVICE and SNS_SERVICE privilege groups is changed from SYSTEM to NORMAL.

Osp::System

· In the SystemInfo class, the value of the ScreenBitPerPixel key is changed from 24 to 32.

The same as the previous versions of the SDK, the new release comes with support for Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 operating systems, and requires at least 1.8 GB of free disk space and minimum 1.4 GB of RAM memory.

How To Win Bada Developer Challenge

A guest post written by Rison Simon.

I won the bada developer challenge! Well not yet! This is the reaction I want from you after the bada developer challenge ends. Some say its impossible, but if you really want to win  this challenge you will win. But to win the bada developer challenge you will need more than just passion, you need to work. Well, its not just work, its about how you work. So you want to win bada developer? In this post I will try to explain how you can win the bada developers challenge.

Step 1:
First of all you need to join bada developers. Its not rocket science but you need to join to enter the competition. When you first join the site you are automatically joined to basic mode. Now that you have joined the site, you need to download bada SDK ( Software Development Kit ). Samsung releases latest versions of SDK from time to time. Make sure you keep up with the updates. The SDK will include various APIs (Application Programming Interface ), tools like IDE, debugger, UI builder and simulator.

Step 2:
Now that you have the SDK, its time to build that bada app. You can stir up your imagination to think of all sorts of applications. But creating any application will not  guarantee your success. We should develop such an application that will appeal to the users. You can read create
popular apps to win bada
to help you with what type of app to build. So have you decided what type of app to build?

Step 3:
This is the hard part.In this part you need to do on your own. This you need to “develop bada app”. You need to build the app using the SDK that we just downloaded. If you have any trouble you can contact me. Hope you have build a good app.

All About Being A Bada Developer

Written By: badasamsung on Sat Jun 12, 2010

So now you know what Samsung Bada is. It is a new mobile OS for smart phones. With this basic knowledge can you set out to develop some bada apps? Wouldn’t it be cool if you could develop your own apps? Besides Samsung has introduced bada developers challenge which gives lots of rewards for good developers. For instance they are giving out new Wave phones for 300 contestants who pass the simulation rounds.The total prize are worth $ 2,700,000 (USD) and the champion will be awarded $ 300,000 (USD). If your bada app makes it the finals, your app will featured in bada store. So why now try it? Before starting out to the quest of being the top bada developer there are some things you need to know, besides knowing what bada is.

Anyone can be a bada developer, at least in theory. For those with at least a slight developing history, it is a good place to be in. But if you have no idea how to develop a software,you need to do some homework before entering this arena. First you need to know how to develop a software. So you need to know what SDK and IDE stands for. SDK means software development kit. According to Wikipedia, it is typically a set of development tools that allows for the creation of applications for a certain software package, software framework, hardware platform, computer system, video game console, operating system, or similar platform. For starters, it means that it has the required files to develop the software. So now what is IDE? It is integrated development environment. It is required to debug and test the developed software. So now you know what SDK and IDE is, the obvious question is where to get it. This part is easy since you can get from bada developers site ( http://developers.bada.com). But first you need to join the site, which is free. There are two modes, basic and partner. You are automatically logged to basic when you first register. You can download the development tools from the site. To find out each step in the developing after getting your hands on the tools, you can refer to the tutorials given in the site. You must know that the information given here are basic and to know more you should need to do the practicals. After developing your app, you can test in simulation. Then you can send it to the simulation test and hopefully win that Wave phone.So why not try being a bada developer?
