From time to time we hear many bada developer days being announced by Samsung in different cities around the world. But why would Samsung create so many developer days when bada developers site already has many tutorials?

If you ask Samsung why they take the pain to organize the developer days they will reply like this, ” The event has been designed to encourage bada application development and assist relevant developers and their communities. The bada developer day is structured around bada platform programming samples configured for specific technologies and applications based on bada platform SDK, and a variety of demonstrations using real mobile phones”.

If you had followed what I just said, you should able to understand that basically Samsung wants to promote bada development. Also use should know that the bada developer day is intended to provide the bada developers to experience the apps in real mobile phones. Bada being a new OS, it requires more care so that the developers are able to create apps with more ease.

The bada developer day will include technical sessions such as how to write bada application, some bada applications demo on Samsung Wave phone etc. Besides it also provides an opportunity for the bada developers to build your network with fellow bada developers, Samsung bada developer team and Samsung executives. Last day I received a message from Divakarla Srinivas saying that he was unable to use Samsung kies properly with Samsung Wave. It seems many bada developer beginners have been experiencing the same problem. It is under this circumstance I decided to present this post. 

To make Samsung Kies work you need the Wave to be idle. It means that no applications should be running. To close applications, you can press the center key of Wave and select to close all applications in the menu that appears.

Another thing to make sure before using Samsung kies is that your Wave is put in Samsung kies mode. You can do that by going to menu -> settings -> connectivity -> usb. This should solve most of the problem. If the problem still persists, you can always contact me and I will email you back in one or two days.

Among the apps that users want to see developed, educational apps topped the list with 18% wanting to see it developed. Work and travel related apps followed the list with 17% and 13% respectively. The reason consumers want to see them developed is since they feel there are still no right app in these categories. This is were we need to use our skill as a good developer. If you could develop a good app that would satisfy users, you will be a winner.

It is important to understand some basic terms in software developing before entering this arena. So I am going to explain the basics.
To begin with lets look into what SDK and IDE are. We hear from time to time Samsung releasing new SDK for bada. So what it SDK? It is Software Development Kit intended to provide the necessary environment to develop the software. It may consists of API or sophisticated hardware to meet the required conditions. In bada doesn’t involve hardware. API or Application Programming Interface provides the necessary to communicate with different software programs. It may consist of some files for necessary files to provide the necessary interface. Still confused? It means that it provides you a better environment to build the software without the entire knowledge of the machine language.

After learning SDK, hopefully we have managed to develop a software. Now its time to move on to test and debug the software. This is where IDE comes in. IDE or Integrated Development Environment helps the developer to debug the software in various testing environments. With IDE it is possible to determine any problems in the developed software before submitting it.
