Here it is everyone, the next generation of the original and popular Samsung Wave! This is the Samsung Wave II (S-8530) being shown off in all its glory complete with 3.7″ Super clear LCD screen, integrated communication, “Quick Type” by T9 Trace, multimedia features, and more! It might not have been the upgrade some bada users were hoping for but the 3.7″ display, what seems to be a faster and more refined version of bada, and still packing it all into a slim and sleek package will be enough for a lot of people.

Launch of bada OS the most successful since iPhone?
November 24th, 2010
Dane Here is something for all you bada users to think about. Is Samsung’s bada OS lauch the most successful since the iPhone? The answer could surprise you.
When bada first launched with the Samsung Wave S8500, it was met with a lot of hype, excitement, and also some criticism. Questions about bada’s future and the lack of some important features like multitasking seemed to come up often but were quickly silenced when the success of the device answered the critics. However, when Samsung announced the Galaxy S Android line-up, the questions about bada’s future started to come back into the discussion. However, Tomi Ahonen crunched some numbers and came up with an interesting conclusion. Ahonen says, “Samsung’s bada OS launch has been the most successful OS debut since that of the original iPhone.” Interesting huh?!
Samsung has managed to take 2% (1.3 million users) of the market in Q3, a market that is made up of about 80 million worldwide. This put Samsung almost even with Windows Mobile and also means that bada’s first four months after the launch were more successful than Android. You also have to remember, bada OS has no US carrier support and for a good part of the year, had only one device (Wave S8500) running the OS so the numbers are very surprising.
Now, I realize that Samsung is still pumping out Android phones left and right but with the growing support for bada and the versatility of the OS being put on TV’s now, I would not count bada out. I am confident when I say bada will be around for a long time and I would not be surprised if Samsung dropped Android and focused on bada completely within the next four years or so.
