Samsung Wave with Bada Heading to Bell Canada July 8th!

According to this release sheet from Bell Mobility in Canada that was found by BGR, the Samsung Wave could FINALLY be heading overseas and into North America!! This is great news for us over here because it means the wait is getting shorter!

Bell Canada is reportedly planning on launching Samsung’s newest Bada-based smartphone ‘Wave S8500′ on July 8th. Based on the launch memo, the handset will retail for $299.95 with a contract agreement.

A lot of times when a phone comes from Europe to North America, specs get changed but it seems like the North American Wave will be identical to the European version. The smartphone offers a 3.3-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, a 2GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, 720p HD video recording, an FM radio, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and runs on Bada OS.

Super AMOLED Still Better Than iPhone 4 Retina Display?! We Think So!

When Steve Jobs announced the iPhone 4 at WWDC, the Apple CEO used some marketing terms like “Retina Display” and told the audience why the high-resolution IPS Apple display is better than competing technologies. Well, Samsung, an Apple manufacturing partner for some of its electronics component including fabricating the CPU and providing memory for the iPhone, isn’t one to sit still. According to a rep from Samsung, “Structurally, IPS LCD technology cannot catch up with AMOLED display technology.”

Samsung claims that the Apple display, while quadrupling the resolution, does little to add to the clarity of the screen and also increases the battery drain beyond what AMOLED/Super AMOLED can offer. The rep said that the IPS retinal display screen does at most 3 to 5 percent better in terms of clarity while draining the battery life by as much as 30 percent more.

The downside with AMOLED is that the screen becomes less usable outdoors and get washed out quickly (see: HTC Droid Incredible), which is a reason why Samsung developed Super AMOLED technology. We have yet to see a Super AMOLED display outdoors, but indoors on the Samsung Wave display with the Super AMOLED screen is a lot brighter and crisper than its AMOLED counterpart.

According to Apple representatives on hand at WWDC, the display used on the iPhone 4 is closer to the iPhone 3GS than the iPad when viewing outdoors. Users of the iPhone and iPad have noted that the iPad screen gets washed out in bright sunlight whereas the iPhone screen doesn’t have that effect as much.

**As you can see in the picture displayed, the Samsung Super AMOLED (on the left) is a lot brighter and crisper while the iPhone 4 display (Right) is crisp and sharp but the colors seem  a little washed out but nothing major! Bottom line, both screens are amazing**
