Samsung Wave 723 First Impressions

The Samsung S7230E Wave 723 (a real mouthful) was announced only recently and recently at the IFA 2010 show GSM Arena had the chance to see it in person for the first time. The Wave 723 is the company’s most affordable Bada phone so far.

Overall, according to GSM Arena, the device feels quite snappy however, even the shortest of glimpses is enough to convince you that it doesn’t come anywhere near the high-flying S8500 Wave. The WQVGA LCD screen is worlds away from the WVGA SuperAMOLED unit of the the Bada OS flagship.

Still the quite compact Wave 723 (measuring only 109.5 x 53.9 x 11.8 mm) feels great to touch due to its sleek metal back cover. The look and feel of the device is great but it is something many devices would be able to offer you. The most unique thing that only a few phones have is a leather flip cover protecting the display when the phone is not in use. I have no doubt that some users will hate it while others will love it. The one thing I know for sure is, you will be thanking it if you ever drop your phone so it is handy to have.

After first impressions, it seems that if Samsung gets the pricing right it might just turn out to be a very decent mid-range device with all that connectivity on board. The Wave 723 should be released sometime this month.

Samsung Wave 723 Announced!

This is exciting news for all Bada users! Samsung has announced the next phone in the Bada lineup – the Samsung Wave 723. The Wave 723 will have Samsung’s Super AMOLED display for a 3.2-inch TFT LCD screeen. It will also have wifi and a 5megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash. The phone will run Bada OS 1.1, which also adds UI auto-scaling. This means Samsung is prepping developers to make sure their Bada apps work seamlessly across devices of different resolutions. No word on pricing, dates, or regional availability at this point, but you can sure that when we hear more information, we will pass it along to everyone!

**UPDATE** (Thanks to Forum member “Kingkij” for providing more information)

The 723′s SAMOLED screen will have a resolution of 240×400 pixels and will be made of tempered glass with smudge resistance technology and an application-centric interface.

Other features include: a 3.5mm audio jack, 90MB of storage (expandable through a microSD card slot) and a built-in GPS receiver. The Samsung S7230E Wave 723 will support quad-band 2G and dual-band 3G as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.

The Wave 723 is quite thin (measuring only 109.5 x 53.9 x 11.8 mm) and has sleek metal back cover. But while this is something many devices would be able to offer you, there is one thing only a few phones have – a unique leather flip cover protecting the display when the phone is not in use.

The Samsung S7230E Wave 723 smartphone is expected to launch in Germany sometime in September with the rest of Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa to follow shortly after.

While no confirmation has been given, rumors claim the Wave 723 will be selling for a good 240 euro.
